What's the difference between the katsu curry sauces?

I'm looking at katsu curry recipes and noticed sometimes there's a darker sauce (like Bull Dog brand tonkatsu sauce) and sometimes theres a lighter brown sauce. Are these supposed to be the same sauce? What's the difference? Are they ever served together?
