What do the instructions say? If you are using a commercial product, there might be instructions on how much to use. We will need to know how concentrated it is. Take a sniff and if the odor is strong. I would start with like 1/4 tsp or less. You can always add slow and taste the batter (and who doesn't love cake batter?) until you have it where you want it.
