I am making braised short ribs and the recipe calls to cook them in the oven in enameled cart iron casserole what can I used instead?

I use a Pyrex baking dish and cover tightly with foil. They turn out fine.

Anything oven proof that will fit the ribs decently- cast iron holds a lot of heat and makes it easier to keep the temperature even than something lighter- ceramic is probably the best alternative, but it's not that critical. Depending on your braising fluid you may need something non reactive; it's probably a good idea whatever you're using for fluid.
