It depends some on the marinade you are using, but as a general rule of thumb it's not safe to keep it for more than 2 days. Longer marination in acidic solutions actually will cause the meat to toughen in some cases, and turn to mush in others. Not all of the bacteria will be subdued by it either- so if yours has been refrigerated longer than 2-3 days, it's not worth the risk.
