This seems to be an offshoot of the same school as all those cakes that consist basically of chocolate, eggs and butter- there were several such (Kladkakka, "cloud cake" et al) that got a lot of play here this winter. They can dance on the edge of just too much, particularly in the summer.
Hi Patty! A lot of brownie recipes don't contain any leavening agents, like baking soda or baking powder, to make sure they come out fudgy. But, if you're looking for a more cakey texture, you could try adding 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon baking powder.
