Can I use wax paper in place of parchment paper for a cookie dough?

You may use wax paper for storage, ie if the recipe calls for shaping the cookie dough into log rolls or logs, wrapping in wax paper or parchment and refrigerating for a couple hours or overnight. Please don't use as a substitute for parchment if you are baking the cookies.

I can tell you from experience that if you used wax paper, your cookies would taste like candles.

Hi! Parchment and wax paper are both nonstick—but parchment is oven-safe while wax paper is not.
