The butter is clearly to prevent the eggs from sticking, so I would guess a couple of ounces might be adequate. Also missing, however, is what size casserole dish to use. "Large" can mean many things to many people. That said, I would suggest beginning with two ounces of melted butter for the size dish you plan to use. Be sure to cover the bottom adequately, and also brush all sides. If that doesn't appear to be adequate, add another two ounces and repeat. Hardly a definitive answer, but I hope it helps you.
