Waffle iron hell —query for the hive

Geez we’re having trouble finding the perfect waffle maker. Price is not an object —-I just need one that’s consistent, doesn’t stick, doesn’t off-gas Teflon ☠️, isn’t made of crap plastic, doesn’t break down or over/undercook the damn things, and isn’t a complete nightmare to clean and store. Help, everyone. Heeeeeelp meeeeee.

I feel your pain. I have an old oneI got at a yard sale that was the same one my mom had when we were little kids and its one of my prized kitchen possessions:) According to Cooks Illustrated magazine which has a reputation for is rigorous testing, the best is the Cuisinart Double Belgian Waffle Maker (model WAF-F20B).

Just came across a counter appliance article on Serious Eats and remembered your question- they recommend both american and belgian styles which is great:

Hi Elaine! I have the square version of this stovetop waffle iron by Nordic Ware (https://food52.com/shop/products/4486-stovetop-sweetheart-waffle-iron)—and I love it! I used to have an electric, plug-in model (can't remember the brand) that was impossible to clean, and sooo bulky. This one easily tucks in a cabinet and, after being used, can go right in the sink, which makes it a breeze to clean.
