Need to make ahead for a wedding

I am planning my daughter’s wedding at a boat access only cottage and will need to make ahead of time. Can I freeze it?

Bake the cake and freeze it, unfrosted, and tightly wrapped. Thaw in the fridge and frost the morning/day of the wedding. This is what the professionals do. Depending on the type of frosting, you can probably make the frosting in advance too (it might need to be rewhipped after thawing). Hope this helps.

Thank you. What kind of frosting would you recommend?

I have successfully made, thawed, and rewhipped Italian meringue buttercream. I even flew across the country with it. It’s very stable and has a wonderful satiny texture. Not too sweet and easy to add other flavorings. My favorite frosting.
