Where I live in Mexico, pine nuts would be very costly and most likely rancid by the time they reach the shelf. Can you suggest an alternate nut?

Walnuts won’t taste exactly the same but I think they’d be nice here.

Chopped macadamia nuts have a similar buttery taste and texture as pine nuts.

Marie - can you get (reasonable quality, reasonable price) Filberts or cashews near you? Those are top two that come to mind. If not, experiment with what you like and/or can find nearby.

They don't necessarily taste the same, but I like substituting pepitas or walnuts for pine nuts.
