Spice substitute when using regular tomatoes for fire-roasted tomatoes

Let's say you have enough cans of diced tomatoes in your pantry but not the fire-roasted kind. Any suggestions on spice changes or techniques to get a similar flavour?

Thanks for the suggestions! I will try this on angel hair or spaghetti pasta, that squash gives me the heebie jeebies lol.

Agree with Brinda.
Other options -
1) some red pepper flakes or one fresh chili,
2) that (retro) liquid smoke stuff - I hears different things about its safety, and it seems to have come back into popularity the past few years.
3) Japanese 7-spice blend, with red pepper and Szechua.

I would use something like smoked paprika, smoked salt, or a tiny bit of chipotle chiles and/or their adobo sauce to give the tomatoes a fiery, smoky flair!
