Will custard work without cream?

I’d like to make a savory tart today, but I only have 2% milk. The recipe calls for cream and whole milk in the custard. Can I use my 2%, or should I this recipe on the back burner until our next trip to the store?

I think you can but...it will not have that rich flavor nor will the texture be as silky. With custard, I'm assuming there's eggs and/or egg yolks to thicken. Try it with 2% milk but expect that it's not going to be as creamy and most likely will be "watery". What the recipe btw? I'm inclined to hold off until your next trip to the store if you want to do justice to this savory tart.
