Cheese sauce separates during baking of scalloped potatoes.

My cheese sauce for scalloped potatoes "breaks", or separates during baking. What can I do to keep the sauce intact?

Te usual flour and butter about one to one, ad the 1/2 %1/2 and cheese folded in just before oouring over potatoes., oven temp. is 350.
