Can vegetables be cooked on the grill?

I'm wondering if I could do a quick char of the ingredients on the barbeque grill before boiling and following the rest of the steps? Have you tried this or seen this done before?

Absolutely, you can give the Veggies a Char on the Grill. In Monterrey, Mexico, I've seen the Veggies Roasted on a Grill, Gas Stove Burner, a Piece of Stainless Steel Sheet Metal Over a Mesquite Fire. Of course Mesquite is the Choice of Natural Wood Charcoal that is most Commonly used throughout Northern Mexico.
