Where in France do Pomme Dauphine originate?

I have searched and searched and can't find the actual region from which these potato puffs come from. Can I assume they come from Versailles or Paris because of the royal designator?

Wrong. I was thinking of the casserole. The potato puffs aren't named for a region, but for the Dauphine.
