Should the curry be heated in the oil with the vegetables?

It's true that adding spices to oil brings out their flavor! I would add them after the vegetables have cooked for a few minutes, but would stir the spices with the vegetables over the heat for at least a minute before proceeding with the next step of adding the rice, etc. ;o)
