How to prevent turmeric from staining

How can I make raw or pickled turmeric not stain things like my hands, the cutting board, etc? I find that both versions dye my toothbrush orange too.

Sorry, what I meant was: what can I do to the actual raw turmeric to prevent it from staining? Blanch it? Boil it in milk? Change the temperature somehow or soak it in a particular substance?
