My short ribs have been in the slow cooker on high for 5.5 hours, and they are extremely tough (submerged in sauce) I don't know what is wrong!

Maybe the sauce is too thick. I rarely put any liquid in my slow cooker. The fat and juice from the meat does a great job and the meat turns out very tender.
