When making a homemade salad dressing does it make a difference if I blend the onion or mince it?

I blended a dressing the other day when the recipe said to mince and I felt like it didn't have as much flavor as it does when I minced it. I like to blend the onion so it comes out easier from my dressing bottle. Does it make a difference?

It seems possible that when you mince the onion you wind up biting into pieces of raw onion, which definitely could create a very concentrated onion flavor. That’s the only reason I can think of that the unblended would taste stronger than the blended, other than the individual variations between onions. Anyway, interesting question!
