Triple Berry Rose Pie could this technique be used for a rhubarb or strawberry rhubarb pie?

I just received Erin's book " The book on Pie" yesterday and discovered this website today! I wondered if this technique could also be used for a strawberry rhubarb or just rhubarb pie. This time of the year I would have to buy frozen rhubarb and let it drain in a sieve/ boil down the juice. Thoughts? Would I could down the rhubarb and add the strawberries raw? Too wet for this design for the top?
