Fish cooking question for today

I bought a piece of fresh wild Halibut. It was packed on 8/18 with a sell date by 8/21.
Today is the 26th. The fish does not smell fishy as I kept it in cold fridge. Is it ok to cook and eat?

I usually cook or freeze fresh fish within two days of purchase, so I don't have much experience here.
I found one opinion that says halibut is ok beyond "best buy" date if stored properly. It is based on USDA, FDA, CDC - however much you rely on them these days.

But I would hate to suggest safety and have you get sick from too-old fish.
Maybe look at a minimum of three sources and go with a majority viewpoint, or the one you consider most authoritative.

Agree, Nancy. Nothing worse than getting sick from bad food . . . . especially when it is 100% avoidable. ;o)

I would toss it. The collective wisdom out there is that halibut is good for 1-2 days after the sell-by date. 5 days later? I wouldn't risk it. ;o)

Thank you! I am tossing it!
