I need to substitute any kind of pepper (chili, jalapeno etc.) in vegan creamy artichoke soup.

I know this will change the basic flavor - but am willing to try something elsse

Hi, what if I don’t want it to be vegan/use fresh artichokes (I have a massive harvest)? Thanks!

The recipe already uses frozen artichoke hearts. Use them or poached/ canned artichoke hearts.
Change the broth to beef, chicken or what you prefer.
Fat - keep the olive oil, or change to other fat you prefer.

Hi Judy, thanks for your patience. I agree that Anaheim or other larger, mildly spicy chiles like banana peppers or Cubanelles would be tasty—I actually tried one version with a few varieties, split and roasted beforehand to mellow them out, and it was very flavorful. If you like a lot of heat, you could try a jalapeño plus a green bell pepper for more grassy flavor.. I also tried a version with a can of mild Hatch chiles—a different flavor, but good too!
