What should I top up mayo with?

Everything else is mixed and I find I only have 2/3 cup of mayo... What do you culinary chemists recommend?

My immediate reaction would be to not add anything and just bake as is. I doubt if 1/3 cup of mayonnaise will be a showstopper from a Depression era cake recipe.

Best of luck.

If you have oil, egg and lemon juice or vinegar you can make some more mayo (blender, food processor, whisk & elbow grease). Many good recipes here and on the web.

If you do not have those or the time/energy to make homemade mayo, use good tasting oil or some melted and cooled butter.

A few more suggestions (from a substitution book) - yogurt, sour cream or cottage cheese.

If you are going to use the cottage cheese, probably a good idea to puree it for smoothness and so it blends into the batter.

Thank you very much for your suggestions - and prompt reply! I've used yogurt as that is what I had on hand.
