I have fresh carrots to cook with frozen broccoli and need direction on combining the two

I would cook them separately (whether boiling on a stove or in microwave) because they will need such different timings. When both are done or nearly done, combine, warm through a couple minutes, too bc with salt pepper & some butter or sauce.
