Love my OXO kitchen scale that measures in pounds or grams up to 11 pounds. The front panel comes out so you can measure in bowls that overhang the scale. It is Serious Eats' long time favorite. For what it's worth, Serious Eats is a site that offers pretty good equipment recommendations (they have been reviewing kitchen gear for a long time).
America's Test Kitchen is another source for equipment recommendations.
My $13 scale doesn't have anything fancy like Gammy's detachable front panel but I can just put an empty box on my scale to bring up the height, press the tare button to zero out, then put the larger receptacle atop and still read the display.
My barebones Ozeri ZK14-S scale is ten years old and still going strong. It was $13 at Amazon.com when I purchased it. I have no experience with other scales apart from the commercial grade scales I used decades ago when I worked in restaurant kitchens.
