Is this 2 cups of crushed chips or two cups whole chips that will be crushed?
The ingredients list states two cups of crushed chips but the instructions state to crush the chips. I’m afraid the recipe is not written properly. Is this two cups of crushed Doritos? Or is this two cups of whole Doritos? If it’s two cups whole Doritos the ingredients should state “2 cups Doritos.” If this is two cups of crushed chips it should read, “2 cups Doritos, crushed.” Which is it? Since you’re stating to crush the chips in the instructions I’m leaning towards two cups whole chips to be crushed later but there’s still that ingredient that implies the chips are crushed and measured crushed. 🤷♂️

From the wording in the recipe, it’s 2cups Doritos measured out, then crushed,

Thanks for your input and have a great weekend ahead!
No, I'm not 100% sure.
But, barring an answer from the recipe author, for two reasons I would use the lesser amount of corn chips.
First, the wording. If it were to crush the chips before measuring, most conventions would call the ingredient 2 cups crushed Doritos, meaning crush first then measure. This wording is two cups, crushed. Which I usually read as "measure first, then crush."
Second, logic. If you crush first, you'll have lots more chips and a denser meatball. Too dense? Only the one who eats and tastes can say.
To satisfy your curiosity, maybe make two small test batches, one each way.
Or one version first and if you think it can be improved, the other way.
Please let us know your results, and you too have a good weekend,
