Vegan Baking Chocolate... not chips
Hi!
I'm not vegan but I have friends who are and I've been looking for dairy free baking chocolate, the type that you use in cakes, brownies, and icing.
I've been looking and have yet to be able to find any. Does something like this exist?
Thank you so much :)

Hi Hannah!
I've been doing a cursory browse online and I think you genuinely might be right that there is a dearth of non-chip vegan baking chocolate options.
I will say that while using chocolate chips wouldn't be a one to one swap in some recipes, it will almost certainly still work. For example, it would just change a chocolate chunk cookie to a chocolate chip.
Also for any melting application it would be a direct one to one swap.
Hope this helps!

Hannah Stites -
You didn't ask about sugar, so may already know regular processed sugar is usually not vegan.
If not and you are baking with it, you can find brands of both white and brown sugar that are not made with any animal products.
Also, I hear that sugar made from beets is also vegan.

It definitely does. I have been using a brand called “Enjoy Life” and they even make vegan white chocolate. Of course cocoa powder, cocoa butter and carob are all vegan too and may be less expensive.
