Got Lentils--apparently harder to find than rare earth minerals!
Is anyone else having trouble finding French (du puy) lentils in stores? I usually order mine thru Rancho Gordo, but time was of the essence.

Just a note about green lentils in Canada (which happens to be one of the countries that produce them).
There are plenty of lentils here. Plain, fancy, regular, organic. In regular and health food grocery stores.

ALL of these are available w the exception of the French du Puy ones--unless one orders from online or Rancho Gordo which is my go to usually.

Yes, for some reason, they are becoming harder to find. This has been the case over the past year or so. Sprouts, which always stocked them, stopped. The bulk section at Whole Foods has disappeared since Colorado passed a law allowing grocery stores to sell wine. I get them at a wonderful bulk food place up in downtown Longmont. They're the last place locally that those lentils can be found. If something happens to them, I'll probably just have to succumb to the highway robbery on Amazon. Good luck! ;o). P.S. Note to self - buy extras, lots of extras, next time.

Antonia, at the very least please buy from Rancho Gordo. ANYTIME I can avoid giving Jeff Bezos more money is a good day.

I did a bit of a different version last night. Used Trader Joes steamed "French" lentils, but used 1/2 mushroom & 1/2 chix stock. Added various 'shrooms, 1 parsnip in lieu of carrot, some leeks & a very spicy Acadian sausage (Chaurice). It's excellent!
