Anyone know what kind of pickle is used in Upstate NY's ham & pickle sandwiches? They were sweet, very crisp and the sd's were delicious.

My best guess is a nice bread and butter pickle. Try this food52 award winner:

Thanks Bevi, but, they are not the ones. The pickles I remember had a real snap and a strong clove flavor..
