Maybe thirschfeld will weigh in but I am wondering if a tomatillo would work if you cannot find a green tomato.

We're making this in class tomorrow, and using tomatillos in place of the green tomatoes we don't have. I hope that doesn't terrify Tom. Different family, but similar crunch and tartness. Same color ; )
