I have a question about step 1 on the recipe "White Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding with dark chocolate rum sauce" from yellowforks. It says:

"Melt butter over double boiler or low heat"

I know the recipe doesn't say how much butter to use for the sauce, so I can't help you there, but as for the second part of your question: a little butter adds a nice gloss to chocolate sauce.
