To thank our members for their dedication to helping out their fellow cooks, every month we’ll choose a Food52er whose activity on the Hotline has caught our eye, and treat him or her to a $25 gift certificate to our Shop.
Today: See who had the write stuff this month.
We’re excited to announce that September’s Hotline MVP is QueenSashy!
Every time QueenSashy answers a question on the Hotline, we learn something new. She directs us to insightful essays on improving homemade french fries, helps us keep our fresh pasta from sticking, and shares creative savory uses for Greek yogurt.
It's not uncommon for us to start nodding our heads in agreement and murmur "Yeahhhh" as we read her responses (and then quickly look around to make sure no one thinks we're crazy). Case in point, her response to Elle Snickens' request for a list of recipes all home cooks should know:
I do not think there is a standardized list of recipes a good home cook should know. Our food preferences are rooted on our demographic make up, family history, personal tastes. Our food choices could be French or Italian centric, Chinese or Indian, fusion or farm to table… So different people will give you different answers. I believe that good home cooks are measured by the comfort level they exhibit when cooking in general, and by their ability to follow instructions and correctly execute a variety of different recipes.
Congratulations to QueenSashy, and thanks to everyone who participates over on the Hotline -- the community wouldn’t be the same without you.
Want to boost your kitchen karma? We’re looking for enthusiastic participation throughout the month that is helpful, thoughtful, and considerate.
