Dinner

At the end of an incredibly fun (exhausting) weekend, my boyfriend and I managed to pull together a delicious dinner to top it off: roast chicken thighs, Gabrielle Hamilton's carbonara out of her cookbook Prune, and a Boston lettuce salad with a Dijon-honey-red wine vinegar dressing. (And a bottle of wine, of course.) —Leslie

Melons

This was the first weekend I saw melons at the greenmarket! The cantaloupes smelled the sweetest, but the watermelons matched my shirt. —Caroline

 

Pet grass

I already have a cat, and I don't want a dog, so I decided to go for this instead. —Sarah

Among other things . . . . "Tartine Bread" Polenta Bread (standard country sourdough + polenta, chopped rosemary and toasted pumpkin seeds - one of my best breads, ever); small dinner party out on our deck, at which my son served this Genius guacamole https://food52.com/recipes/18251-roberto-santibanez-classic-guacamole on grilled artisanal bread (a batard baked by me, not the polenta bread); hikes in the nearby Redwood Forest; lots of pickles canned; and my eagerly-awaited, always-enjoyed Sunday morning farmers' market trip: https://instagram.com/p/5ppgV6GB1W/?taken-by=howmothercooks <br />Prather sausages on the grill were outstanding.<br /> ;o
