I dare not say we've reached the point of summer saturation. I dare not! Because in two month's time, I'll roll my eyes at even the crispest apple, longing for the less-laborious, lower-impact eating experience of a peach.

But still, I'm fickle, and short-sighted, and I want what I can't have. Since the beginning of September, with every tomato sandwich I've eaten, ABC Kitchen's Butternut Squash on Toast has been in the back of my mind.
