Baking Club

13 Ideas for Not-So-Basic Bagels

October 26, 2017

Our Baking Club has been making its way through Christina Tosi's Momofuku Milk Bar all month long. And, as you might expect, there’s been cereal in desserts, complicated layer cakes, and special ingredients galore, but Tosi knows how to keep baked goods savory and (fairly) simple, too. Enter, Bagel Bombs.

If you aren’t familiar with this Milk Bar creation, Bagel Bombs are balls of bagel dough stuffed with cream cheese (that has bacon and scallions mixed in!). Club members have been mixing up batch after batch and mixing up the flavors, too. We’ve seen Bagel Bombs stuffed with cucumber and dill cream cheese; roasted garlic and onion jam cream cheese; and one member took the idea and ran with it, creating pumpkin cheesecake bagel bombs.

Even if you haven't picked up a copy of Momofuku Milk Bar yet, you can still get in on the bagel bonanza. We've rounded up homemade bagel recipes, ideas for seriously changing up your basic bagel with cream cheese, and suggestions for taking everything spice beyond bagels:
