Bitter Almond Olive Oil Cake

i know that in the Lazio region around Rome there is a traditional Torta di Mandorla made with bitter almonds and Olive Oil. Any leads? Any recipes? What do you know about bitter almonds and will they really kill you in large quantities?

That sounds intruiging, but where can you find bitter almonds in the IS? I thought they were not allowed to be sold here. I know bitter almonds are used in Europe, so in reasonable quantities, they should be safe.
