Dump It Cake - Another Idea

What if I were to add 1 cup of buttermilk instead of 1 cup milk + 1 teaspoon vinegar?

All went well with the buttermilk substitution; will frost it in the morning. The few crumbs I tasted were delicious. Cake is moist, too. Thanks again, hla, for giving me the courage to follow my instinct on this one.

I think buttermilk would work, and I'd be willing to try it if I were making the cake.
