I regularly buy the blocks of tofu packed in water, including the most recent from Trader Joe's weighing in at 19 oz. However, my early experiences with tofu was in bulk, with smaller cakes that probably ran 8 oz. The recipe comes from a Canadian, so he may have another size in mind. And with a range of 14 to 19 oz available, the margin of error is pretty wide!

A "cake" is really just a block of Tofu. You can find them in 14oz-16oz blocks depending on the brand
