Where to buy fresh fish in Philly

Looking for a place to buy fresh fish in the Rittenhouse area. I've been consistently unhappy with DiBrunos in that department.

There is a whole foods that is not incredibly convenient, believe it or not. Rumor is a new one will be cropping up sometime soon, but for now, in the way of supermarkets, it's DiBrunos and Trader Joes...

Do you have a Whole Foods near you? I'm not saying they excel in fish, but their purveyors seem to be pretty good. And freezing fish works fine, as long as the fish is fresh in the first place. Another thing you could do is make friends with staff in a restaurant that has good fish, and find out where they buy it. It's probably frozen but hey, you never know.

Thanks, was hoping for something in the direct vicinity, though, aside from the farmers market which is only an option on Saturdays.

The Reading Terminal Market. Don't know if that's close enough for you.

What about the covered market? Haven't been there recently but have gotten lovely fresh fish to make ceviche with a friend from Philadelphia. Can't remember the name of the market but it's the only one-- can get all sorts of good things from small purveyors under one roof.
