What would be considered medium low # on a gas stove burner, on a scale of one to ten, ten being the highest. Thanks.

It is not a simple question... If we were to use linear scale 1-10, then 5 would correspond to medium, 1 to low, and say 3 to medium-low…. But at the end of the day it is all in the eye of beholder. Some folks are far more generous with heat than others. It would help if you shared the recipe… I would say that you should keep on adjusting the heat of the burner to enforce the “food behavior” you have in mind (e.g. maintain a low simmer or boil vigorously). It is more about getting the cooking process to behave the way you think it should, then the precise setting of a burner.
