Well, we've got a hunk o chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting from New year's eve, covered in plastic wrap, and it's still good. Most cakes freeze well, so if you've got a lot leftover, you have that option.
Pea soup...I'd freeze it in smaller containers if you don't eat it within a week.
