I have a question about the recipe "Butternut Squash Pie-Cake" from Sarah Jampel. Could you use already store-bought pie crust if you are short on time?

Pending the recipe author's response, this substitution seems ok to me, with following qualifiers:
1) You may need two pre made shells...one for the base, one for the cut chunks of dough to put on top of the filling.
2) If you have to go to the store to buy the pre made shell, your net savings of time will be small. If you have one or two on hand to use, ok.
It’s for more than just color.
