Bitter taste of garlic in cauliflower soup- any way to counteract this or is it too late?

I think my garlic may have gotten a little too brown prior to adding in the cauliflower and stock - it didn't look burnt at all - but the soup has a bitter finish. Help!

I would add a little sweetener. Just a bit, then taste & see if it needs more.
