So, my dearly beloved thinks I can make clams linguine using canned, smoked "fancy clams". Sounds kind of awful; ideas?

I would suggest a quick, puttanesca sauce, rinse the canned clams and throw them in at the end of the sauce prep so they don't become too tough. Over linguine--should be quite tasty with a nice glass of wine.

This sounds way more complicated than it has to be; sub in what works better for you. For instance, I hate zoodles so would just use a pasta with veg in it. Would also just use a little cream/milk instead of opening a can of coconut cream unless you are in the mood for a cocktail.

If you do make it be sure to have a plan B dinner in the wings.....
(Maybe if you rinse off the weird fake smoke liquid they come in and add some actual fresh clams too and a bizarre amount of garlic it would be not completely horrible)

I would hand him the can and the box of pasta and say - go for it and call me when you are done cooking.

Up to you, of course, but 38 years soon passes.
