Can you clarify cut instructions?

Looks wonderful! Would like to make, but I don’t understand the cut instructions for the apple. Are hasselbacking the rounded side or the flat? And does cut-side-down mean flat side down if it’s the rounded side you’re hasselbacking. Sorry for the confusion, I don’t cook much. Thank you!
