10 inch deep pan pumpkin pie recipe

Can I just double the Libby's recipe and bake the pie in a 10 inch by 2 inch pie pan. My Gran always used this pan but the recipe she used is unknown by us.

A 10 inch pie plate 2" deep will likely NOT hold double the Libby's (R) pumpkin pie recipe.
Depending on depth of the 9 inch pan (often 1.75 or 2"), the wider pan has only about 25 to 40% more capacity.

I guess what I really want to know is if the integrity of a pumpkin pie recipe would be compromised if made in a deeper pan. I would just bake leftover in a dish .

On the integrity question and as you will cook extra filling separately, the pie in the larger pan will probably be fine (I get that you want to use Gran's pie plate for a family holiday).
If you can, roll out and trim a crust big enough for the 10" plate.
And baking time will likely be a bit longer.

Hi Teresa! I've never made the Libby's pumpkin pie recipe, but from what I can find online it seems like one batch of the recipe works for a 9-inch deep-dish pie shell. I think if you were to use a 10-inch pie pan the crust wouldn't come up as high on the sides of the pan, and the filling might bake differently. I think your safest bet would be to use a 9-inch pie pan in this case, but curious to see if anyone else has another suggestion!
