Why does pasta roller attachement move the sheet of pasta from the front to the rear (near the KitchenAid mixer)?

While the attachment is rolling, it moves the sheet closer and closer to the rear, thus forcing the sheet to fold over on itself and resulting in uneven ripples in the finished sheet.
