Can you join puff pastry sheets for length?

Hi, I'm making a mushroom wellington and the puff pastry I got (Trader Joe's) is two sheets totaling 18 oz. The recipe specifies one sheet of 14 oz. How can I join the two pieces (using only part of the second piece) to get the correct measurements when rolling? Egg wash at the joint? Or just water? I've never worked with puff pastry before. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Yes. Ice water should be enough to seal the seam. Egg wash will work also.
