You would actually use 2 9" round cake tins for the batter produced for this 9" x 13" cake. That's because the area of the 9 x 13 pan is 117 square inches, while the area of each of the round tins is 64 square inches, making the total 128. That's a bit more per pan, but distributed across the two pans, it should not make much difference. The layers may need a minute or two, or perhaps three, more in baking. Test with a cake tester or toothpick to confirm.
