I agree with those directions. Traditional sides are boiled potatoes and corn on the cob.

Coming from New England, I sort of think it’s a crime to cover up the delicate flavor of lobster with sauce. I’m also more of a claw girl, but realize most people prefer the tails for their meatiness.

The most I’d do is bake and stuff a lobster, although that’s not for the squeamish. You need to slice the live lobster down it’s length prior to stuffing and baking.

I’d get live lobsters. Put a huge pot of water on to heat. You only need 3-4 inches of water in the pot. When the water is boiling, add the lobsters. If they scream, block your ears (just kidding...an old New England lobster joke).

Boil for about 15-20 minutes. Meanwhile melt some butter and put some in a small dish for each person. The lobsters should be bright red at this point.

Give everyone a lobster and some lobster crackers and picks and have a ball.

Btw, most New Englanders do this outdoors, as it makes a big, smelly mess. It’s easier to just hose everything down afterwards.

Good luck!
